Enhancing Connectivity and Recreation in St. Mary Parish
St. Mary Excel is dedicated to improving community infrastructure by developing safe, accessible, and scenic bike paths in Morgan City and Berwick. These initiatives aim to promote healthy lifestyles, connect neighborhoods, and boost local tourism.
Current and Planned Bike Path Projects

Morgan City Mayor & Council, the Cajun Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau, St. Mary Levee District, and Gravity Drainage District #2 assisted with grant writing to develop over 13 miles of pedestrian and bike trails in Morgan City. Three grants were submitted by July 1, 2019, modeled after Berwick’s existing trail funding.

Public hearing on biking safety hosted by South Central Planning District at SLCC – Young Memorial Campus.

Hwy 182 bridge opened for pedestrian and biking access, in coordination with bridge painting improvements.

Collaboration with the Chamber and Downtown Districts to promote the ATCHAFALAYA GATEWAY bridge hiking/biking program.

Continued support for Morgan City’s RAISE grant to fully fund remaining segments of the BIKE Morgan City Plan.
